Happy Halloween!

Unfortunately we will be experiencing intensely severe weather right around the trick or treating time. We're talking hail, strong winds, and tornado possibility. We were told we get hundreds of treaters and I was real excited.... Boooooo Mother Nature.

On base has rescheduled to Saturday but we don't live on base and Hadley's not old enough so oh well. I'm glad for them though. I hope you all have a great safe night! 

I will still be dressing Hadley up and will post pics soon. We have a squadron pumpkin patch party Friday night so she'll get a Halloween redo!

While my mom was here last week, she made us this awesome witch wreath that EVERYONE comments on when they come over! Great job mom! And with one hand I will add.

On the bright side, we'll have all the candy we want to eat?? haha

Halloween party

Sorry for the blog hiatus. Our company has left and it's pretty quiet around here. Hadley misses her playmates. So it's Halloween week and James and I went to our FIRST Halloween party since we've been together (over 11 years!). We borrowed Jen and David's costumes and off we went.

We are looking forward to putting Hadley in her costume for Halloween. Our forecast isn't look great at all, hopefully it'll change! fingers crossed.

What we've been up to

My mom and max are here visiting while my sister is away on a work conference. Max has adjusted well now (knock on wood). We had a rough first night but so far so good now. My mom still has her cast on so I've been helping her out a bit. 

I got Max a vacuum from one of the swap meet pages for 5 dollars and boy does he LOVE it. He also prefers real brooms and vacuums but we're working on it.

James took the munchkins for a run on a brisk morning so we bundled the kids up.

Hadley got dropped back off five minutes later because she was not a happy camper.

We wanted to make this soup that had gnocchi in it but I could NOT find it here locally so mom suggested we make it..... I forgot she can't do anything cooking wise (broken arm) so I was all gung-ho until I realized it was all me and they took FOREVER. but tasted great (no better or worse than store bought made).

I'll probably be missing from the blog a little bit as you could already tell. 

Hadley is 11 months old!

One more month before my little baby isn't a baby anymore! UGH seriously not ready for it. I just want to bottle her up right now and squeeze her like this forever. 

No new stats.

New developments:

Her top incisors that have been working their way down have finally pretty much cut through. She doesn't really act like they're bothering her too much.

She's walking pretty good with this walker toy but no real BIG interest in doing it on her own. She'll walk with us but buckles a lot to crawl. I'm in no real hurry, so fine by me.

Her new thing is scooting against a wall without hanging on

Personality:

She is one happy little babe. She's laughing and smiling most all the time... EXCEPT in the car haha or when she's due for a nap. I still can't believe she hates her car seat this much but she does. I'm ordering her a convertible carseat soon not that I expect her to change her ways but one can hope :)

Sleep:

Still sleeping really well with the bedtime around 8pm and up at 7:30am. Two naps at 10 and 3, that range from shorter in the morning from 45min to an hour and in the afternoon usually I can get an hour and a half. 

Eating:

She loves to eat solid food and will pretty much eat anything although tofu was not a hit haha I don't blame her. I'm still breastfeeding her 4 times a day and will probably continue until it isn't working for us.

Hadley does great moseying around the coffee table and loves trying to climb on everything including the forbidden fireplace. She LOVES Bella our cat and squawks every time she sees her. Hadley loves playing with Maddie, our dog, but that's an every day experience.

Hadley is wearing size 3 diapers and in 12 months clothing. It's getting cooler around here so she's been sporting some cute pants and stylish get ups. She's been saying mama a lot lately and making more random "words". I'm sure dog will come out first.

We have her one year photo shoot coming up the first weekend in November so I need to get on her outfits (and ours) plus any props I want. Her actual birthday will be low key with a small gathering during the Thanksgiving holiday here in MS.

Happy Columbus Day!! James is lucky enough to have today off, so we're having fun, he Definitely needs a work break. If you're not as lucky and have to work today, hopefully these pictures cheer you up. Hadley visited daddy at work last week and loves playing with his teaching T-6 sticks.

She also sat in a t-6 seat that they have inside the building.

Yummy pumpkin cookies I literally threw together to bring to a gathering last minute (you know, can't show up empty handed!) I'll post the recipe soon.

Hadley went to play at a friend's house and LOVED her pottery barn chair. She climbed up and down over and over and over. She's just too cute.

It is fire prevention month and James competed in a competition and won first place!! Also, he brought Hadley a cute fire hat. I will post more pictures on James' competition, if he lets me :)

hadley was sick

I wanted to document her first real time being sick :(. She definitely wasn't acting herself so we took her in two weeks ago and they couldn't find anything (test wise) wrong with her. They concluded it had to be viral and that she would probably get a fever rash soon if it was that.

My poor baby was super cuddly and taking around 4 naps a day. I felt like she was a new born again, well let me rephrase, a 3 month old. My newborn was not your typical sleepy one :) haha.




She was acting so strange and would fall asleep in WEIRD spots at WEIRD times. She wanted nothing to do with playing and just fell asleep on my leg on the floor. Poor girl, she slept there for an hour.

Sure enough, two days after the doctor visit, her rash showed up. Poor girl didn't have any fever but was just SO unhappy. 

She finally was all better after a week total. To recap: day 1 evening she was acting real cranky and wanted me to hold her non-stop. Definitely noticed a fever happening. 

Day 2- seemed ok in the morning, then afternoon definite high fever around 103. Called Doctor and they said we could wait and bring her in in the morning as long as we could get the fever under control.

Day 3- she was not running a fever anymore but we brought her in anyway since she was not acting herself- virus they said and no fever at doctor or since middle of the night

Day 4- she seemed to be all better and was almost acting all herself

Day 5- back to being really cranky and not herself at all (no fever though) Rash appeared in the evening

Day 6- she was still not herself but she was on the mend- rash still visible but going down

Day 7- rash was gone and she was slowly acting herself

Day 8- all better HORRAY Hadley!

This is how I prefer my happy baby girl, all healthy!

Well, we picked Saturday to go- knowing Sunday would rain and who knows what the other weekends would look like. BOY was it HOT. 87 degrees said our car temperature and that Sun was directly overhead. The clouds covered it a couple times, but it wasn't enough. Needless to say, we were not there very long. I didn't realize Hadley was squinting in most all the pictures until I got home and looked at them. Oh well, thought that counts. She seemed to have a good time watching all the other kids. We are going back their November 1st night for a squadron bonfire where it will definitely be cooler and we plan to do more of the activities that we missed then.

crafts/homemade

At one of our spouses' socials, we went to paint your own pottery. As an uncreative person, I knew mine had to be easy. So I chose this that really couldn't be messed up and it turned out pretty good!

Conveniently at our last MOPs (mother of preschoolers) meeting we were also making a craft. It was "paint a birthday plate" day. Here is mine and since Hadley's birthday's coming up, perhaps we can use it to put her cupcake on!

and yes I did have a stencil to trace since you paint on the BOTTOM of the plate.

There is a facebook group that I am a part of for our local Air Force base that people sell things they make/businesses they operate. I ordered a set of 4 (3 pictured) of wool dryer balls. Turns out dryer sheets have a ton of chemicals in them that are just not necessary. She puts essential oils in the balls if you want a scent and you can just replenish the scent if it gets low. The dryer balls are supposed to last years! So far it has been a good 20 dollars spent. How cool are these? They've been doing a great job.

October Goals

Who can believe it's already OCTOBER, whaaaaaaaaat, no seriously it is! This time last year we were taking maternity photos of Hadley in my belly! This year we're closing in on her FIRST BIRTHDAY!! slow down hadley! My sweet girl was pretty sick recently and not herself at all. I'm happy to report she is almost fully my happy baby again :)
I have a bunch of things I'd like done around here so I figure if I blog it, then I must do it...... well that's the idea anyway.

Hadley and I have been keeping busy with spouse functions (socials and a book club!) plus we've been going to MOPs. Stay tuned for crafts I've done in an upcoming post.

1. I need to order photos for these picture frames I bought to put on a gallery shelf (which I don't have yet) in our entry way. I want some to be of maternity photos and Hadley's newborn (considering I haven't put any up AT ALL in the house and she'll be one.... slacker) I also need to order Hadley's monthly photos I've been taking to finish out her baby book and maybe make a banner for her birthday party.

2. We need to finish putting our bathroom back together (putting the baseboards back in, tacking down carpet that's in the bedroom/closet). I'd like to add the tiling to the tub front/shelving/baskets that I talked about, but that's wishful thinking and a BONUS if it does get done.

3. We got these awesome magnetic cabinet locks to keep Hadley out of everything and we've put them in the living room built ins but we need to put them in the kitchen so that should hopefully be an easy task.
PS. I also know that most of these involve James (sorry babe) but he doesn't trust me with power tools and rightfully so :)

4. Finish these darn pillow covers. Ugh. I haven't done much with them. My mom did a couple for me since I wasn't having a great time with it. I brought them to her recently to "finish what she started" but she broke her wrist..... how convenient :) haha I'm just going to do them, they may come out uneven or crooked but who cares I want it off my plate.

5. Gather items for Hadley's first birthday. We are having a photo shoot for her the beginning of November and she'll need a smash cake and couple accessories. I need to gather birthday party things to (we may just have a tiny party for her here during Thanksgiving weekend since we decided to just stay here since we didn't want to get her back in the car).

6.Visit the pumpkin patch here! We go as a squadron right after Halloween but I wanted to take Hadley and do all the Fall activities. So this should be a fun goal to accomplish.

Should be a busy month! I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures so Hadley and I can play outside more.
