Downstairs house tour

So we moved into our house officially at the end of April but James didn't get here until mid to late May so we didn't really start doing anything until around June. Here she is :) I'll link the first post where I gave everyone a preview and explained some details. We are the end home (for now) until they decide to build again which by the looks of it, we'll probably be moved out before that happens.

Now to the downstairs home tour. This is downstairs spare guest bedroom. We haven't had too many guests so it sits mostly empty but pretty :)

got our Ikea dresser back from jen and david's where we stored it while we were away.... it wasn't easy prying it out :)

Now onto the living/family room. I want to put in a nice wall fireplace in between the curtain area. I've seen some nice ones and we'll build a little makeshift mantle (doing things we can take with us and not permanent)

Right off the guest bedroom and in between the family room is a full guest bathroom.

The only light in the morning comes from that front bedroom (because suns out in front of house) so sorry for the bad lighting, it's often dark in here.

Here's our kitchen view from living room. Next on the list, or I should say my list, is to put tile in since those are linoleum (did it fool anyone? didn't think so) but since we don't plan to stay in this house THAT long and make it a rental, James isn't sure that's the best idea..... so it's still up in the air.

Hope you liked our downstairs tour! The downstairs entertaining area seems smaller than any house we've had even though this is the biggest house we've had (2238 sq feet). We have a big loft area upstairs plus 3 more bedrooms so that's where the majority of the space goes. 

More of September's happenings

Hadley has been loving dressing up as an Georgia Southern Eagle supporter! She's just practicing her cheerleader stance. Isn't she adorable!?

The cousins got matching halloween jammies as is our tradition. Colette's was late arriving so we are going to redo the picture soon. But aren't these two cute?!

My mom (who watches my niece and nephew) went up to NY for a bit so I had to take over nauntie (nanny/auntie) duties. That included picking up Max from preschool and carting all three kiddos around. We did it and made it out alive :) Hadley of course wanted to go to school with him (as I expected would be the case). My sister's car (and the trucks) are the only vehicles that fit all three car seats in it.... will someone donate a 3rd row vehicle to our families?! anyone? Oprah? Ellen?!

Hadley has been asking go to school a lot because a lot of the kids we know go and she just thinks it'll be so much fun. I agree that she would have a blast but we decided we'd keep her home one more year. There's a lot of mother's day out schools but with only having her, it makes sense for me just to keep my kiddo home with me. Plus, I'm a former teacher so why not just teach her myself! (sounds like a good idea right?)

I only took these pictures to document and make other mothers feel bad like they've made me feel when I don't do this :) haha I've concluded that I just do not have the patience I have when I teach other people's kids. She's super cute but man, she may be too young for this, but we are sticking with it.

These photos represent our color week and the day was red. So we had red food and glued paper, sorted, & read color books, etc.

and even painted! look at her being crafty. We also worked on the letter H that week too. (we are working on her name letters)

Here's a video of why my patience is thin, so frustrating. I just want her to master things but I have realized her being exposed to it sometimes will have to be enough. After all, she's not even 3 yet. She can however point/pick out when I say "point to the red circle" she can do it.

I'm really enjoying Hadley's age as she can do more things with me. We bake together, clean together, you name it!

That's our latest happenings. I decided that soon I should give you guys a mini house tour. I realized that I wanted to do that but since we moved into our house in shifts, it has been a work in progress. So look forward to that coming up soon!

September!

We've had some GREAT Fall-like (fall in the south) weather the last couple days! It's been outstanding. We got the chance to go to the awesome playground which is ON a smaller airport sorta close to around here. My Mississippi friend, Elizabeth, and her son Wesley, were visiting her family which lives on the South side of ATL. I'm on the North side, so we decided to meet somewhere in the middle. I had heard about this playground and it lived up to my expectations. 

Being a pilot's wife and kiddo, we love watching airplanes! It's the busiest non-commercial airport in GA. TONS of planes were taking off and landing.

We ended up having lunch at the restaurant right by the playground that is basically ON the flight line. We sat outside and airplanes took off and landed right next to us. The kids had a blast.

Don't mind my hair, it was SUPER windy. I miss my MS friends and I'm so glad I get to see some of them from time to time. We can't wait to bring James with us one time, as we've been TWICE now. Another friend of mine (this time from Texas) actually moved to close by to this playground. So we met them here and did a total replay of the first day :)

My nephew has started playing T-ball! We went out to a game and it was super cute to watch. It is as chaotic as you would expect, but fun :) Hadley wanted to play of course, so we went to the playground that is right by the field for a bit of it. The above picture is a "pep-talk" from his mommy to convince him to stay in the game haha

we also got the opportunity to watch our cousin baby owen the other day, too. He was much happier this time as he had his bouncer seat to sleep in.

this is Hadley's ecstatic face! My sister's neighbor's gave her their older barbie dream house! (did I already post on this?) to say this has been her dream is an understatement. She plays with it every day and talks about it non-stop. I should have waited til her bday or christmas but this face could not wait. Plus they set it outside for her so she already saw it.

Hadley can be such a sweet girl most days (ok more often than not, oh wait or is it the other way around haha) she loves her Maddie dog more than words can say. Aren't they so cute! 

I'd say our September is trucking along nicely, hope yours is going well, too.

Roller Skating Fun

Hadley got invited to my sister's neighbor's kiddo's birthday party (ha- that's complicated title).  Hadley loves hanging out in Max's neighborhood with the older kids and they like her almost just as much. So she was lucky enough to attend Pilar's bday at a roller skating rink! I didn't get a picture of her with Pilar, too bad. We knew Max and Hadley would have a lot of difficulty but thought they would have some fun.

 Hadley loved every part of everything about this activity. Max was a little more realistic with what was happening.... which was the reality that they couldn't do this, not even a little bit :)

I was glad James was with us to help her because he was basically holding her up or making sure this helper aide didn't tip over

Hadley's BESTEST friend (another one of my sister's neighbor's daughters) was there at the party and they just had a blast together. I am very thankful they adore my sweet girl... for many reasons but one being it gives me a break haha :)

introducing THE HUBBY CUBBY!!

HAPPY SEPTEMBER EVERYONE! BRING ON FALL!

I had a bunch of todo lists for James to complete because of his odd work schedule, so when he's home, he's super busy! Poor fella. Maybe if he wasn't so good at stuff it wouldn't be so long? I originally wanted a makeshift mud room area right off the kitchen where there is empty space (where they should have put more kitchen cabinets) but we decided we'd put them in eventually. I decided by the front door would be a good spot for my mudroom area, even though the space is a tiny bit tight. I showed James a couple of photos of what I wanted and BOOM he was to work. He didn't use any plans just his smart brain. It seemed to be going smoothly until it came to the painting.... the sprayer we borrowed wasn't working for this so we tried hand painting, which took forever, so we went and got a good sprayer. We used it and it worked but it ended up leaking pretty bad so back it went. Nothing is ever fully smooth sailing but what can ya do.

So the name, we keep referring to it as the hubby cubby and people look at us funny. Backstory- James borrowed some tools from our neighbor and he goes is this a you project or one the wife wants you to do. And he said me, so he said "ah, a hubby cubby". So name just stuck and now it's referred to as our hubby cubby (seems fitting since the hubby made the cubby haha). Side bar- I am not fond of the word hubby.... guess it's ok as long as cubby follows, but why can't we just say husband, not hubby. Like my hubby just got home.... NOPE, to each their own. :)

But this is the actual finished product. The above pictures were missing the stained bench part (it was drying). James insisting on doing the stained seat instead of just the white that I said to do. He was right, it is great.

It is mounted to the wall but James built it so we could detach it and take it with us, which is fantastic because I LOVE IT, don't you?! Such a handy man :)
