Well the flooring for our house update is here! They brought it over the weekend so it could acclimate. They couldn't install it until today because the installer had conflicts last week. It just feels like this whole process could have been done quicker, but nobody asked me :). We ended up going with Lowes because they gave us TONS of discounts. The guy was shaving numbers off like crazy and James told him that he couldn't spend more than X amount so the guy went back to "talk to the manager" and came back BELOW our number. That was over a 300 dollar savings just in that ten minutes, not to mention the other items he gave us deals on (moral of story- don't be afraid to ask, or if you are- have your husband do it for you haha). Nice guy that worked the flooring.

Side note: On the order sheet that James got it said we were getting 33 boxes. James made sure to count and there were only 32 boxes. James told the delivery guy and he was like no there are 33. So James made him count and there were only 32 like James said.... Moral of this story: DOUBLE CHECK everyone's work! It seems lately we've been having problems with people not doing their job properly.... I digress. Anywho, we paid for 33 boxes so either we get the last box or we get a refund. (they're refunding us and if we need the other box the installer will get it and we'll pay again).

Update on the kitchen: The base of the cabinets and molding and such are all DONE! It looks FANTASTIC! We finally got to put everything back in there and I cleaned off the sanding dust. It's been like 10 days or so maybe 2 weeks since he had taken everything out to get it ready to sand. James did a flawless job. We wanted to get everything put back in there and sort of straighten up everywhere else to make the flooring installation go smoother before he started the cabinet doors. He's going to be working on the doors/drawers little by little. He has a system that will work and it shouldn't be TOOO much longer. I don't want to take a FULL picture yet until it's ALL done. I will say the white appliances are an eye sore even more now because they do NOT go with the white cabinets. So that will be next once we get the cash saved up (no finance no credit that's how we roll).

your only sneak preview! Look how good that turned out! I don't even know if I told you we decided to close out the peninsula or not, but we did and here's what happened!
It's going to be finished soon and it will look like a whole new house! Luckily Miss. Hadley has been behaving herself throughout the day so I can watch after her and let James work without bothering him to help me. Well, I actually got a blog post finished in her short nap sessions, and there's my cue we're done here (she's crying). Adios for now!

Cool, like the looks of that white part under the counter. Looks real good! And flooring samples look good also, coming right along. Then you can flip that house and move onto another one. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love the white!! I can't wait to see it all come together. The floors are going to look so good with it all. So fun.
